4 Key Ways to Stay Productive as a Stoner

Make Motivation an Easy Part of Your Life

Feeling guilty for smoking too much doesn’t have to be a problem! You just need to smoke AND stay motivated.

Sounds easier said than done, right?

Nah, you can do it. You just have to establish some better habits and patterns.

The point of smoking is to feel good, right? Well, why not let yourself feel even more good by getting rid of that nagging feeling and replacing it with satisfaction?

Give Yourself a Productive Setting

Imagine waking up and ripping your bong in a clean, organized room. Imagine exhaling a cloud of smoke only to see your desk gleaming, maybe journal open, ready for you to plan your day in it. Imagine knowing you have meal prepped food in the fridge waiting for you and that you already did your laundry this week.

You would probably get up and write some down some ideas or goals for the day in that journal. You would probably go get yourself some food and maybe even put the dishes in the dishwasher.

The trick is to find yourself in a world where productivity is easy and obvious. What would the productive version of you live like? What would their room be like, their closet, their car? Why not go ahead and rearrange the 3D world around you to better match that version of reality?

Start Off Right (Rituals Help)

When you finish smoking a blunt (or whatever you prefer) what do you then start to do? Watch TV? Get online? Play music?

Try writing down your goals for the year and putting it near your stash. Every time you smoke, look at those goals. You don’t have to do anything about them, but looking at them every day will force you to see yourself in relationship to them and you will probably start to course-correct and get more inspiration for how to align with those goals.

The key is having something that starts you off right. Maybe a nice walk around your neighborhood. Hell, maybe even a...jog.

Wow. Look at this man. Look at him jog. This could be you.

Other than that, meditation works for some people. Having a good book out and ready to read works for others. You can probably think of something right now that would get you in a more dominant, active, “It’s my life and I’m going to make it awesome” mindset.

Figure Out Your Ideal Consumption Method

If edibles make you just want to sink into your couch and lose yourself on youtube, that’s fine. Really, don’t beat yourself up about it.

But consider investing in an alternative form of bud to get you going when you have stuff you like, actually, need to do. Maybe do some research into different strains that could work for you or try out some CBD products you can add to your regimen.

Or maybe only go for that vape pen as a reward at the end of the day, after you’ve mowed the lawn and finished your taxes.

Some motivation to get you started: Whatever you’re avoiding, you’re going to have to face it anyway. Might as well do it now.

Momentum is Stronger than Motivation

Do you know it only takes two months to create a new habit? Your reward for sticking to your new routine when it’s tough, when it’s hard, when you don’t wanna, is that soon, very soon, it’s going to get a lot easier.

One day you’ll be doing it without even thinking about it. It will become your new natural. You only have to rely on motivation long enough to let your momentum take over. One foot in front of the other. Repeat.
